The Autumn Tag

I was reading Makeup-Pixi3's blog when I came across her new tag - The Autumn Tag. She said if you read her post and have a blog then consider yourself tagged! The same applies to my blog - so here we go...

For Autumn, what is your...

1.  Favourite thing about it? For me it has to be the slightly cooler weather - where it's comfortable to wear a big snuggly jumper but the temperature isn't so low that you get cold ears and a headache.

2.  Favourite drink?  It has to be my usual favourite throughout the year which is a chai latte, though I do love having the Christmas themed drinks in October. I've heard that the UK are finally getting a Pumpkin Spice latte from Starbucks this year! Though it may just be a rumor I'd love to try it.

3.  Favourite scent/candle?  It's got to be the Christmas Cookie candles from Yankee.

4.  Best lipstick?  I've only recently started to wear lipstick so I only own two - one is by MAC and the other is by MUA. I would have to say it would be a nice bright red to a nice dark red - I can't decide between them.

5.  Go to moisturiser?  I usually just go for Simple's light moisturiser but I think I need something a bit heavier in the Autumn - any recommendations?

6.  Go to colours for the eyes?  Black, like usual - although I do like adding a touch of dark colours, such as a reddish pink or dark metallic purple, if it suits my outfit.

7.  Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?  I find I'm listening to more relaxed / less heavy music at the moment, and I can see myself listening to a lot of Frank Turner in the near future.

8.  Favourite outfit to wear (i.e. boots & a scarf combo)?  I love getting dressed in Autumn - there's just something about hiding away in a big baggy jumper that feels very comfortable. I'm on the lookout for a new scarf since I lost mine running for a train, but my favourite pair of boots are Dr Marten Triumphs, though they do take a fair bit of time to get on and off with no zip and just laces.

9.  Autumn treat?  (i.e. a new scarf or bag you have your eye on) As I mentioned earlier, probably a nice flowy scarf, something light but that can also be wrapped around a few times for cooler days. I've got my eye on All Saints.

10.  Favourite place to be? Probably at home or inside, with a window close by.

So there are my answers... :)

McSkully Jewellery Review

It can't have been that long ago that I stumbled upon McSkully jewellery. I believe it was through Instagram. I clicked on the link to the website and immediately thought 'this is awesome!'. I love bold, interesting, and unique jewellery despite not owning much of it! So I was very happy to find Amy's website.

The site itself is well designed - you can view the products full name and price by hovering over an image with your mouse. The colour scheme is good and does not distract from the jewellery while still retaining a unique feel. It's a site that I could use for a long time without any eye strain or problems.

The packaging itself was wonderful - everything was secure, well wrapped and bubble wrapped, and you could tell it had a lot of thought put into it.

The main piece of packaging inside the outer layer. I love animal print so this was a lovely surprise!

Inside my new handbag (more on that later) was another little bag, this time containing the jewellery.

Everything still in their packages, as you can see they are really well put together.

The jewellery itself - everything is very well designed and solidly built. The handbag is made from a gorgeously soft faux leather, and I adore the logo. The bracelets feel very strong, unlike other bracelets made from elastic. They use beautiful colour combinations and just look really pretty! The earrings are brilliant too, I love the diamond design and the drips just make it look even better - you can tell the design has been thought about.

All the items from McSkully are well priced, and in my opinion, worth more than you pay for them! I am very impressed with everything - from the quick, free postage, the delightful packaging, to the lovely products themselves.

There are plenty of other items on McSkully which I would love to purchase, the serotonin necklace being a particular favourite of mine. Hopefully I will be able to place another order soon. There aren't a lot of companies that I can certainly say I would re-order from, but McSkully is one of them.

MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette Review - Carbon and Shroom

I had a lovely weekend this week as my friend Tabitha visited. She is a makeup buff so we decided to go looking around House of Fraser for some cosmetic goodness. Over the course of the weekend I picked up some high street items for a costume, but I decided to splurge a bit after trying out one of Tabitha's eyeshadows, Carbon by MAC. I got a 2 colour compact, with two shades - Carbon (black) and Shroom (Somewhere between a pale brown, pink, and pearl).

The packaging - you can also choose to have the eyeshadows in their original packaging and assemble the palette yourself, however I asked the person who helped me to pop them in for me.

The palette - I really love the look of it, it seems very sleek and professional in appearance, and feels well built. I also like the fact that you are able to see the eyeshadows through the window clearly.

The two eyeshadows - both have been used to swatch.

This is how the colours show up when swatched. As you can see, Carbon is fairly instense, while Shroom is a lot more subtle. My plan is to use Shroom as a highlighting colour and Carbon as more of a traditional eyeshadow / liner. Carbon is nicely pigmented, while Shroom has a slight shimmer to it.

So are they worth the price? Certainly - I find that both the eyeshadows and palette are of great quality, and once they have both run out I can see myself repurchasing them.

Dixi Jewellery Rings Review

This morning my order from Dixi came. It was a purchase I made in the middle of the night, which usually leads to bad decisions. But when the order arrived, I was very happy with it.

The order came packaged in a small cardboard box, with the rings mostly loose in the box. However, the larger longhorn sheep skull ring came in a mini canvas bag to protect it, with Dixi printed on the front.

The metal rings themselves appear very well made, especially the heart infinity ring. I am not sure if it is made of real silver, but it certainly looks like it. The anchor ring has a lovely design and twisted band which is a nice change from  the plain bands I have always had in my jewellery box.

It is a close tie for favourites between the infinity band and the sheep skull ring. For everyday wear I would probably avoid the skull ring as it is quite large and could get caught on clothes and the inside of handbags, but it is gorgeous none the less. It is very much a 'statement' piece of jewellery.

While a little pricey, I feel that these pieces are worth their price.

EDIT: The colour started coming off my Anchor band, leaving a  copper underneath. I contacted Dixi and they apoligised and gave me a voucher for the cost of the ring.

'Confettis' Confetti Nail Polish from L'Oreal's Colour Riche CollectionReview

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/10180257/?claim=dmddg3r8msh">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

In my first post I'm going to be looking at the recent nail trend of confetti nails. I finally got my hands on a confetti style top coat, which is 'Confettis' from the L'Oreal Colour Riche collection. I am going to be layering it over two coats of Barry M's shade 279, 'Bright Pink', and under that, Barry M's clear basecoat / topcoat.
